Hogan's Corner Laundry in Seattle

The project required that approx. 200 TCY of contaminated soils be removed from behind an existing laundry. The work area at this site measured approx. 12’ X 60’ located between the existing building and a 1:1 slope raising approx. 15’ to an adjacent residence. Prior to removing the contaminated soils a soldier pile wall had to be constructed to shore the adjacent residential lot and the foundation of the north wall of the laundry had to be supported with pin piles. Additional support for the north wall was provided by a cast-in-place concrete wall.

The existing sewer, water and gas service lines were removed to facilitate the excavation of contaminated soils and were replaced during the backfill operation. Once the backfill had been completed the area was paved with 6” of rock and 2” of asphalt.  Except for a one week period, during which the utilities were removed and replaced, the laundry remained open for business during our construction activities.
