Safety

Safety is a commitment

At J.R. Hayes safety is a commitment to our employees and business associates. But we also consider it a partnership. We agree to provide safe worksites, and our employees and business associates agree to work safely - which is why we call our safety program "Partnering in Safety."

Our concern for the safety and well being of people - our employees, our subcontractors, vendors, and other visitors - has resulted in the development of a comprehensive safety program for injury and accident-free worksites.

Safety Director Mike Koehler volunteered for the hit telelvision series Extreme Makeover Home Edition while filming in Kingston Washington

Our program empowers each and every individual to immediately correct any unsafe condition without seeking the consent of a supervisor. When people have the power to remain safe, they’re able to protect themselves and their peers.

Our program is founded on frequent, respectful and caring dialog on worksite safety, communicated as part of our weekly safety meetings.

Our Accident-Free Rate Advantage
Our exceptionally low accident rate is a result of proven safety processes
Washington's Department of Labor and Industries has a rating system to determine worker's compensation rates. An accident Experience Factor (EF) of 1.0000 is used as the base EF and indicates the industry average. The lower the EF, the lower the number of accident claims. Some of the most demanding clients require their contractors to have an EF of no greater than 0.8000.

J.R. Hayes proudly boasts an EF of 0.5519. This is a direct result of our commitment to safety and the partnership of our constituents. In addition to saving lives, and greatly reducing jobsite risk, our safety program insures that our clients benefit from pass through savings and on-time, accident-free delivery of projects.
