Climate Pledge Arena

Located in Seattle’s Queen Anne district, the new Climate Pledge Arena stands as a proud testimony of engineering and construction innovation. JR Hayes led the way expanding the footprint of the old Key Arena site while assisting the effort to support the iconic stadium roof, designated a National Historical Landmark. All told, JR Hayes exported in excess of 700,000 cubic yards from beneath the roof and the new parking garage facility, through Seattle’s busy streets to be repurposed for fills supporting other Seattle-area infrastructure. During the excavation phase, JR Hayes faced challenges from historic rainfalls that flooded out roads and dump sites across Western Washington, work stoppages related to the COVID pandemic, and a shortened construction schedule due to the Federal Government shutdown of 2019. In spite of these challenges, JR Hayes worked hand-in-hand with our client to find ways to expedite the work and ultimately delivered its scope ahead of schedule.
